Degsy and Rich’s Monza trip

Degsy and Rich at the Formula One Grand Prix, Monza September 2013

Stopped off at Lake Como for a few days en-route to swim in the lake and explore on bikes – gorgeous!

Monza circuit campsite was about 50 metres from the circuit – we watched the GP2 race from here with cold beer to hand, from our own fridge!

On race day we sat in the grandstand at Parabolica, the corner with the fastest entry speed on the F1 calendar – a truly awesome site and sound.

Monza has a great “access all areas” approach – with a three day ticket we were able to enjoy a pit lane walk on Thursday evening and stood about a metre from the Williams team while they practiced their pit stop – very impressive!

Bonkers-track-invasion-after-the-race

The post-race track invasion is actively encouraged at Monza and everybody pours onto the circuit to walk or cycle on the hallowed turf. We cycled the whole circuit on our France Motorhome Hire bikes. Never been allowed to do that after a Grand Prix before!

After the race we broke the journey back to Paris with a night in the Alps – need to come back another time and see more of this, just as stunning in the sunshine as it is covered in snow.

If the dates work out next year, we will be back and hope to take in the Moto GP from San Marino which should be the following week.
