Children under five? Take a motorhome trip before school is out for summer!

25 Apr

France + family + motorhome holiday has been an enduringly popular combination for many years but if your children are of school age, you are obliged to take your holiday at the busiest possible time. However, if your children are not yet at school, a campervan trip in France provides a magical, peaceful and relaxing break for every member of the family. Here are our top ten reasons why:

A motorhome trip is the easiest and most relaxing holiday you can have with even the newest editions to the family

1) You can come in May, June, late August or September, the weather is glorious with wonderful long evenings but the majority of kids are still at school so prices are lower and campsites are peaceful.

2) There are no dress codes on a campervan you can wear exactly what you please and truly relax. Shorts, a tee shirt and splattered yoghurt or pureed apple is completely normal campervan wear and you won’t have to change before dinner.

3) You can enjoy every part of your holiday, even the journey, with all the space and facilities around you that small children need. Rather than trying to travel in the cramped conditions of a car, you will have your kitchen, beds and bathroom wherever you go. This makes visiting just about anywhere possible and easy, even with babies and toddlers in tow. You can stop for toilet breaks, change nappies, create meals or take naps whenever the need arises yet still tour La Belle France and enjoy a road trip.

4). You can create your own schedule and travel at whatever pace suits you. Stop and linger for days if you find somewhere you love, move on if somewhere disappoints. The flexibility allows you to be totally spontaneous (not often possible with small children), you can make decisions depending on how everyone feels each day.

5). France has a massive choice when it comes to campsites and they are great places to relax with small children. They often have extensive facilities for children of all ages and if you come outside of the school holidays, your kids will have the run of them. Campsites offer a lovely safe environment where you can stay close to the children but close to your base at the same time.

6). A motorhome holiday is great value for money compared to a villa or hotel where you have to pay adult prices to get enough beds and rooms for the children. You can self-cater too to keep the costs down and won’t have to hire or bring a car to get around.

7). If your children are tricky to feed or have special diets, you can cater for their them with the greatest of ease in your campervan kitchen. Just make and eat what you usually eat from your kitchen with fridge/freezer, hob, sink and plenty of storage.

8). The bunk beds on Apollo motorhomes come with special security features for small children to ensure they don’t fall out of bed. The top bunks and over-cab beds have security netting that clips into place the same way a seatbelt does and the lower bunks have sliding doors so even the wriggliest kids stay safe once in bed.

9). On family motorhomes, there are large storage lockers so there is plenty of space to carrying strollers/pushchairs and toys.

10). Finally, and probably most importantly, camping is great fun and kids love it. If you hire a motorhome, parents are happy too! It’s camping but with all your creature comforts and holiday luxuries around you!

We are all but fully booked for the school holidays now (just the odd gaps remain) but outside of the school holidays, we have good availability for family motorhomes from May to October when the weather is still great here in France. Get a quote now for the best family holiday you will ever have.
