Make a scrumptious picnic, set off from home in your own car with all the things you want to have with you for your holiday, cross the channel on a ferry or better still take a Eurotunnel train (so you don’t even have to get out of your car or go anywhere near the germy, sneezing public!).
Drive for around five hours and collect your very own, immaculate motorhome, unpack only once then take it with you everywhere you go, stocked with everything you like to eat and drink. If you arrive at a planned destination and don’t like it, just move on and find somewhere you do like then linger there as long you fancy!

Renting a motorhome in France is usually cheaper than collecting one in the UK and bringing it to France – most UK rental companies charge more for continental use and the channel crossing can be much more expensive than a car too. Your own car will probably be slightly faster and a little more economical so you’ll save time and money getting into the heart of France - your real holiday can start that little bit earlier
Renting in France also means you will be driving a motorhome which is designed for continental roads – not only is the steering wheel on the correct (left-hand) side but, very importantly, the entrance door to the motorhome accommodation will be on the correct side too. A UK rental vehicle is likely to be a right hand drive with the accommodation door on the UK side too which means stepping out into traffic whenever you exit the vehicle on the road
