Who are France Motorhome Hire?

France Motor Home Hire was launched in 2009 specifically to offer a new service to motorhome hirers from overseas – it is no coincidence that nearly all our clients are English speaking and we are very well placed to offer a great level of service in a common language.

English owners Phill and Hannah Spurge have lived and worked in France for over eleven years providing holidays in France for English speaking clients.

France Motorhome Hire is structured as a French registered S.A.R.L – the French version of a limited company or US LLC. Business practice in France requires the Directors to file formal annual accounts and the company has to remain solvent – so when dealing with us, you can be assured that your booking is backed by a sizeable company structure.

Looking back on how France Motorhome Hire began, Hannah says: “We originally came to France from the UK in 2000 to run a seasonal boat charter business but once we had one foot on French soil our fate was sealed! Now we are in the happy position of living in a country we fell in love with and running a business that stems from one of our great passions.

We’ve explored France extensively ourselves in a motorhome discovering the true “live and let live” culture that exists here and the warm welcome extended to motorhome travelers. Having been made to feel completely welcome everywhere we are now happy to pass on our experiences to anyone who considers a campervan holiday”.

Phill and Hannah enjoyed an enviable reputation for turning out immaculate, well equipped charter boats and they use their experience to deliver hire vehicles to the highest possible standard. “We hand over our vehicles with real pride and total confidence that every client feels as though they are stepping into a brand new motorhome. The vehicles are professionally cleaned before each client takes them - we literally remove every piece of cutlery, crockery and the kitchen utensils from the vehicle and put them through a dishwasher, kitchens and bathrooms are scrubbed and polished and the fridge/freezers are defrosted, stripped, washed and reassembled. Our vehicles undergo all routine mechanical servicing and are thoroughly checked between each use to ensure reliability” says Phill.

The information and advice offered to all clients is designed to help them make informed decisions about who to rent from and how to get the best from a motorhome trip. “We try to keep the information on the website as current as possible and constantly update our advice but above all, we are a “human database” of information and always try to give our best advice when clients ask for it. In fact, we are (as far as we know) unique amongst motorhome companies in France in having English owners who are readily available by phone or e-mail with real experience of motor-homing in Europe and of course, an intimate knowledge of our rental fleet”.

France Motorhome Hire’s depot is uniquely located as a base from which to explore France and beyond – many clients who fly in start their trip from Paris or its surrounding airports but collecting directly from an airport terminal or in the city can be a big headache (see our page for tips and advice on where best to collect a motorhome) so we choose to be based in the rural countryside but still with easy access to Paris and all the major road networks.

Clients need to weigh up the benefits of collecting from the airport or city versus the peace of mind of collecting a vehicle from a rural base surrounded by open countryside. Airport/city collections may look like a great way to start your holiday but in fact it is fraught with complication and stress – you are relying upon your flight being on time, the vehicle supplier must be in the right place at the right time, the handover process has to be handled in the street or a nearby car park and, above all, as soon as you take over the vehicle, you are immediately thrust into the frantic traffic of a major city – possibly in rush hour!

Many of our clients specifically prefer to collect from our hire depot because it allows them time to make their way to our location in a leisurely way before driving the vehicles for the first time on quiet, rural roads away from too many other users. You have to consider too, the time it takes to drive out of major cities versus the travel time by train – getting to our depot by train is a simple process and we complete the journey for you by collecting you from the station in a dedicated vehicle”.

Overall, our company policy is to help clients get the best they can from a motorhome trip by providing the highest level of service and advice, reasonable prices, clear, fair terms and conditions and, above all, a commitment to customer service which is second to none.
